What to do with one day in Christchurch New Zealand by food and travel writer Courtney Jill Bishop.

A beautiful and buzzing little city, Christchurch is a must-see if you’re visiting New Zealand. If you happen to be doing a road trip through the country and find yourself with only one day in Christchurch, here’s what you do with it.

Supreme Supreme

Start your day with coffee and breakfast at Supreme Supreme. If you didn’t guess it by the name, this is one of Coffee Supreme’s cafes, and, like everything they do, it is out of this world. Take your time here: order a second cup of coffee, linger over breakfast while you plan your day ahead, chat with one of the friendly baristas, slip into the slow-paced Christchurch lifestyle. There is plenty of seating here, and the baristas are so welcoming. They might even give you some travel tips!

Pro tip: order the breakfast sandwich. It’s what an Egg McMuffin could only dream of being. Free range eggs, softly cooked into an omelette, filled with melty cheese, served on a fresh english muffin. I still dream of this sandwich— it’s so good.
