What to pack for the Camino de Santiago for women by food and travel writer Courtney Jill Bishop.

One of my most asked-about travel adventures is my time on the Camino de Santiago. I love talking about this trip! It happens to be one of my most favorite travel adventures. When someone I know is considering setting off on the way of Saint James, I am more than happy to sit down with them and offer up any advice that I can.

Unsurprisingly, the most-asked question by first-time pilgrims is, “What should I pack?!” I gave this question an inordinate amount of thought before my trip. It’s so important to choose your bag and what you put in it carefully: everything you pack, you must carry on your back all day every day for miles and miles.

When I was preparing for my trip, I did hours of research on what other pilgrims packed, hoarding their tips; I re-packed my bag several times, making it lighter each time; I lightened my load as much as possible until I was down to the perfect combination of necessary items. Since I found myself spending so much time researching what to pack, I’m sharing my final comprehensive packing list here for you!
