Let’s talk about some delicious natural wines I’ve been enjoying lately. These are the perfect wines to drink at this time of year as we start to welcome warmer weather.
Kivelstadt Cellars’ Twice Removed Rosé is the perfect pale rosé. It tastes like melons, apples, and flowers. As I sipped it, this wine transported me to the south of France. It’s especially fitting for this season— spring slipping into early summer. Made with native yeast and minimal intervention, this rosé is a great example of a natural rosé from California! Drink it outside with a good book at sunset.
Fuso’s Tèh Rosso is a beautiful natural red blend from Piemonte, Italy. It’s a perfectly balanced blend of Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino, and Bonarda. Tèh Rosso tastes like red berries, dark fruits, earthiness, and yeast. It’s not a very heavy red by any means, more bright and red-fruit forward. Tèh Rosso goes very well with food: this is a great table wine to pair with whatever you’re grilling!
Molino a Vento’s Carricante Orange is a wine that tastes exactly like the color that it is. Made with 100% Carricante, a native Sicilian grape, this wine is bursting with acidic citrus tasting notes. Candied orange peel, peaches, honeysuckle, and mandarin orange pop on the palette. Mineral and saline notes balance it out to create a lovely finish. It’s a wine that tastes sunny— perfect for a warm spring Saturday.
Les Fruits’ Occitan is a cozy, balanced red blend of Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Grenache. This low-intervention wine from the Barossa Valley, Australia boasts tasting notes like dark fruits, blackberries, herbs, and jam. Don’t worry: it’s not too heavy, still high acid and only medium body, but those darker tasting notes make it perfect for the cooler spring nights. This one goes well with dinner too!
Spring is time for pink bubbly wine! Lubanzi Wines’ Rosé Bubbles from South Africa is just the ticket. This natural sparkling rosé is very bubbly, and it tastes like strawberries, cherries, minerals, and pleasant acidity. Rosé Bubbles is made with Cinsault grapes, and it’s so bright and sunny and refreshing. Pop this bubbly and cheers to a new season with someone you love!
These wines are all natural, made with love by winemakers who are passionate about what they do, and super tasty— I enjoyed each and every one of them. If you try one, let me know what you think!
