Six International Coffee Roasters for You to Try
Whether you're traveling soon or want to order new coffees online, these top-notch international coffee roasters are worth seeking out!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m an avid coffee drinker. Everywhere I go I seek out the coolest coffee shops, the local roasters, the cafes that are creating the most unique drinks. Travel without coffee? Absolutely not. Discovering great coffee is one of the best parts of travel. So today I’m sharing some of my favorite international coffee roasters!
Bows Coffee Roasters
From Victoria, British Colombia, Bows is one of my favorite coffee roasters ever. They consistently produce perfectly roasted coffees: I have tasted many coffees from this roaster, and every single one of them was excellent. Bows holds themselves to very high standards both in the quality of the coffee they roast as well as in their interactions with others.
“Our motivations are simple within a vast industry. We wish to do right by and for the people whom permit our livelihood. We want to tangibly support and enjoy success with producers. We want to share exemplary coffees with our friends, partners and customers. We want to challenge ourselves to do better, engage ethically and answer to our conscience in a changing physical climate and troubled political landscapes. The vast majority of the coffee trade, as it is, is unsustainable – (even) within the niche of specialty coffee. We want to see what’s possible and prove these nice ideas true.”

Bows is a coffee roaster who is pushing the bounds of the industry in the best possible direction: towards perfection and growth and better treatment of others. Supporting such a company makes their coffees taste even sweeter. You can shop beans on their website, or, if you’re headed to Victoria, B.C., check out their cafe. In the past I have favored the Peru Tupac Amaru, but you really can’t go wrong with any of Bows’ coffees.
Coffee Collective
Founded in 2007, Coffee Collective has firmly established themselves as one of Denmark’s best coffee roasters. In doing so, they have never compromised their greatest value: to bring transparency to the coffee supply chain and fairly pay the farmers who grew their coffee.
We source coffee directly from the farmer for two main reasons. To guarantee we get the best green beans, and to make sure the farmer is rewarded for the high quality coffee.
It is actually quite simple. For the farmer to continue to produce specialty coffee, he or she should be paid extra for the hard work.

Coffee Collective is based out of Copenhagen, Denmark where they have several cafes as well as their roastery and headquarters. If you’re ever in Copenhagen, you must stop by one of their cafes! It is the quintessential Scandinavian coffee experience. From the design of the cafe to the taste of the coffees, everything Coffee Collective does celebrates their Danish coffee culture as well as the beautiful coffees they’re sourcing.
You can shop their coffees on their website, or you can find Coffee Collective beans at several wholesale partners in the U.S.
Coffee Supreme
It is so very refreshing to stumble across a business that has been operating for over three decades and is still striving to create an excellent product. Coffee Supreme is one such business. And not only are they still roasting amazing coffee, but they’re constantly focused on getting better!
Better is a constant, we’re always improving — we’re better than the time before. It’s better for everyone who’s come to the party: coffee producers, coffee makers and coffee drinkers. Better coffee is about taste and quality. It’s about looking after the environment, looking after each other, and it means choosing a coffee you can trust.
We prioritise quality and taste to create better coffee experiences for our customers. We always ask, ‘what can we do better?’ And because we’ve done this for the past three decades, you can trust we’ll keep asking ourselves this question. A Supreme cup of coffee is one you can trust, for flavour and care.

Chances are if you've ever traveled to New Zealand (or if you’re a Kiwi), you know of Coffee Supreme. This roaster has established themselves firmly as the premier coffee roaster of New Zealand. But they didn’t stop there: Coffee Supreme has shops in Australia and Japan, and you might stumble across their coffee somewhere in the states as I did a few years back.
I was delighted, when I finally went to a couple of their cafes in person, to discover that their coffee is still top-notch. Every coffee and food item I enjoyed at a Coffee Supreme location was delicious. If you’re traveling to one of the cities with a Coffee Supreme, put it on your list, or you can shop beans on their website.
Langøra Kaffe
I stumbled upon Norwegian specialty coffee roaster, Langøra, at the tiniest coffee shop in Bergen, Norway a few years ago. It was a multi-roaster cafe, and I arbitrarily chose one of the coffees they had on offer. To this day, the Guatemalan coffee I drank remains the best coffee I’ve ever had. I bought a bag to bring home with me, and it forever lives in my memory as the perfect coffee.
Langøra is tucked in a remote corner of Norway, quite a few hours north of Oslo. Their roastery is a picturesque Scandinavian hut overlooking the mouth of one of Norway’s iconic fjords. Removed from the hustle and bustle, centered in the Norwegian countryside, Langøra hones their craft to perfection. They have amassed a well-deserved loyal following, both locally and worldwide.
You can shop Langøra’s coffees on their website, and, trust me, you won’t be disappointed if you decide to treat yourself to a perfectly roasted Scandinavian coffee from Langøra.
Pilot
Another amazing roaster who has been around since the early 2000s and has only gotten better is Pilot Coffee Roasters out of Toronto. Pilot was founded on a few solid core values: sourcing ethically, direct trade, and building transparency in the specialty coffee process from farm to cup.
If our commitment is to quality and sustainability, we have to back that with the best coffee on the market, acquired in a way that is ethical, responsible and caring.

These are the values I look for when I’m shopping for coffee… Well that and does it taste good? Pilot’s coffees taste good! They are roasting these carefully chosen beans very well, and they have a wide selection. Pilot has grown a lot over the course of their existence; you can now order their coffees online, visit one of several cafes around Toronto, or find their coffees at one of their wholesale partners.
Tim Wendleboe
The revered roaster out of Oslo, Norway is named after its founder, Tim Wendleboe. Wendleboe won the World Barista Championship in 2004, and he has never wavered in crafting excellent coffee since then. Soon after his win, Wendleboe opened his coffee roastery, espresso bar and coffee training center in Oslo. It has been considered one of the best coffee roasters in the world ever since, winning many awards along with the respect of the coffee community.
Our goal is to be among the best coffee roasters and espresso bars in the world and to be a preferred source for quality coffee, knowledge and innovation.

Coffee nerds the world over harbor a deep respect for Tim Wendleboe, and I count myself as one of them. Everything they do is held to a high standard. Tim Wendleboe never compromises their values, whether it’s in their cafe or in your online order. You can expect perfection. If you’re going to Oslo, you have to stop by the Tim Wendleboe cafe! It was easily the most thoughtful and detail-oriented coffee shop experience I’ve ever had. If you don’t happen to be headed to Norway anytime soon, you can shop Tim Wendleboe coffees online!
